Based at Birmingham City University, Dr. Samuels has been a pillar of research capacity
building initiatives at NEMRA in 2020/2021. Besides conducting WhatsApp topical discussions
and providing valuable materials, Dr. Samuels liaised with the University of Rwanda to include
NEMRA PhD students in a week long virtual research proposal writing session that he
conducted. He was also one of the facilitators at the monthly seminars that NEMRA run under
IRIC-ECRU. Dr. Samuels also works behind the scenes generously supporting NEMRA PhD
students and early career researchers seeking help especially on their writing assignments.
