Professor William Bazeyo

Professor Bazeyo is NEMRA’s Technical Advisor on Research funding and resources mobilization. He again offered unwavering support in running training sessions for the NEMRA Mbarara chapter.

Professor Bazeyo is NEMRA’s Technical Advisor on Research funding and resources mobilisation. He again offered unwavering commitment to his role and great support in 2020/2021.

Dr. Norman Mukasa

Dr. Norman Mukasa has been instrumental in supporting and working with the NEMRA Exec to draft, present and discuss key documents for collaborative partnerships with local and international institutions. He is also part of the NEMRA Board of Directors’ team that attends negotiation meetings with potential collaborators.

Dr. Peter Samuels

Based at Birmingham City University, Dr. Samuels has been a pillar of research capacity building initiatives at NEMRA in 2020/2021. Besides conducting WhatsApp topical discussions and providing valuable materials, Dr. Samuels liaised with the University of Rwanda to include NEMRA PhD students in a week long virtual research proposal writing session that he conducted.

He was also one of the facilitators at the monthly seminars that NEMRA run under IRIC-ECRU. Dr. Samuels also works behind the scenes generously supporting NEMRA PhD students and early career researchers seeking help especially on their writing assignments.

Dr. Kevin Byron

A Vitae UK research capacity building expert, Dr. Byron has been one of NEMRA’s favorite trainer in 2020/2021. He shared key tips around the idea of turning academic research products into enterprises, facilitated talks on Intellectual Property Rights as well as reviewing & writing literature.

He made an incredible mark at IRIC-ECRU first workshop on academic writing where he conducted sessions for 5 days in a row. Dr. Byron is also involved in offering various kinds of research and mentorship support to individuals at NEMRA.

Dr. Sandrine Soubes

Dr. Soubes is an expert research trainer and mentor. She engaged the NEMRA ladies on managing transition to the “new normal” and offered valuable support to individuals. She was also a very liked facilitator at the February 2021 workshop on academic writing where she conducted 5 sessions on writing and building writing support groups. Furthermore, Dr. Soubes has hosted and interviewed some NEMRA members on her regular podcast shows about Research lives and culture.

Dr. Martin Ongol

Dr. Ongol is Uganda National Council of Science & Technology’s Ag Executive Secretary. He graced two 2021 co-creation workshops as the guest of honor. His speeches were inspirational to PhD students, early career researchers and workshop organizers.

Professor Aaron Mushengyezi

Prof. Mushengyezi is the Vice Chancellor at Uganda Christian University. NEMRA worked closely with UCU in 2020/21 as a result of the University Management’s open door to the IRIC team and support of the NEMRA idea of interuniversity networking. Prof Mushengyezi also graced the May 2021 workshop as guest of honor at the opening ceremony.
