New Year Message from NEMRA

Happy New Year 2022, May this year be a blessing to your life. On behalf of the executive, I thank you for choosing to be part of this network.

The new executive assumed office in July 2021 and have registered several achievements namely;

During the last year, NEMRA celebrated its 3rd anniversary the keynote speaker Dr. Martin Ongol of Uganda National Council of Science & Technology and he emphasised the need to equip researchers for social-economic analysis and improve on critical thinking among researchers.

The year was crowned with End of year celebrations and a colourful celebration was graced by Prof Ogwang Patrick (aka Covidex) and his dear wife Dr Lilian Ogwang. We had a wonderful end-of-year celebration, the following members were awarded NEMRA honorary membership.

  5. Ms. Assumpta Tibamwenda

I congratulate the above for attaining this recognition.

NEMRA ladies breakfast meeting was graced by Ms. Assumpta Tibamwenda and her key message that researcher should stay relevant to Academia but also be usable to Government ….Consciously Sitting in the Middle Lane

A number of training activities were successfully undertaken and these include;

  • Translating research to usable products for the Government and Private sector (Held on 7th August, 2021 by Dr. Hamis Mugendawala)
  • The pursuit of intellectual property services at URSB (4th September, 2021 by Ms. Mercy Keinobwisho, Director, URSB)
  • The role of Science, Technology and Innovation for National Development, Dr. Monica Musenero Masanza, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, on Saturday 2nd October, 2021
  • Orderliness in research: Researcher's online and offline tools for keeping tabs on activities and schedules ( by Niklas Zimmer on 3rd November 2021)

Special thank you to the NEMRA coordinators

i) Research training, mentorship and development Coordinator spearheaded efforts for the development of mentorship manual and this has been approved by the NMERA Board of Directors.

ii) Research projects and publications coordinator has been the brain behind NEMRA C-19 publications that have seen members successfully publish in newspapers like new vision, daily monitor, observer, red pepper and others.

iii) Mobilization and advocacy coordinator has been a bridge-builder for NEMRA with partners like NPA, UNCST, URSB, UIA, Vitae UK, ACS and others

iv) Finance & administration coordinator has stepped up efforts for recruitment of more NEMRA members and has increased visibility of NEMRA on social platforms and uploaded previous training on YouTube Channel and other social media platforms:

Finally, the year 2022 presents fresh opportunities for each of one us as individuals and the network as a whole. We look forward to working with you.
